Sandy bowman I believe ran one think it had a stroker kit but I`m not sure.
Think he has a 6ltr now but I`m sure he`d have some r and d for you.The problem is by the time you`ve done head work, valves and springs, camms, sort out the timing chain chatter issue(because of camms)and time and labor a ase kit on stock everything run at 10psi will give you less dramas and more power.
If you arnt trying to fit in to a race spec I don`t know why you would bother pulling a perfectlly good motor apart for less power and more money.
I think there are a set of rods and pistons for sale up here at rocky if you want to go that far though.Cheers Billy

Sandys car became scrap after an incident off road racing, it was a strocked 4.8, crower make a kit. It's pricey for the increase if you ask me. I've done a couple with aftermarket ECU's both Wolf and Haltech, extractors and a big throttle body with the right tune and they come up very well as a stock motor. If you want more I'd go the turbo as it will give best bang for buck. The engine will handle moderate boost stock. Keeps the revs down, big camshafts require oil pump gears as the stock one fail but additionally they are weak in the timing chain design as mentioned.

No big problems with it mate other than the adjuster is oil pressure fed and dosen`t apply enough pressure when you back off or when your on it, with bigger camms for that matter more pressure on the chain is the key.
Yes the oil pump drive has to be replaced with a billit one we have got a couple off A.S.E. in the past.
Make a investment in a good race blaencer.
We have seen 4.8 balencers jump off but not sure if they used a new bolt as these are usually use once only. They also make it easy to dial in camms.
Have you thaught about getting a new head and valves and putting your new rods and decom pistons in and then turbo it at 4.8 cube. you can rev it a bit harder that way.Pull yor arms off!! Never late in a 4.8!!!

they are flat top C.P. I did think of bolting a snail on too but for what i want to achieve i should get with out the cost of the turbo kit .
It had to have the rebuild anyway .ah we will see how it goes in a couple of weeks with any luck

Yep too easy mate.
Oh just double check your bore size, I got a motor that had flat top forge pistons and rods on a turbo`d motor (go figure) and they were too small for the bore on standard 4.8.It piston rattaled like a mofo and, Ahhhhh, I wont go into it but it was supposed to be a rad motor that they spent a heap of coin on .
So it might pay to break out the veriners mate some of these kits can cost you money to make your car go slightly worse than a standard one..Especially in the camm department .
The Kit came from from well known sorce too mate so know what you have before you slap it in. Cheers Billy..

You can use the coils from a Nissan Stagea M35 VQ they are the same length and plug style, the hold down bolt is in slightly different place though. Cheapest I found for tb48 coils was $1000 for 6 through nissan. No dout someone can get them cheaper else where but thats the best I could find.
