I have made an engine swap from a3 ltr. to a 4,2 liter diesel and have used the harnes from the 3 ltr. Now i have a problem whit the tachometer necause the 3ltr. works on a different current settup and nobody seams to be abel to retune the tacho. Has anybody has made such a conversion and had the same probblem? how did you fix it?
I would apreciate any information on this subject.
Cheers Gilge

The ZD30 was first introduced in 2000.
I think your refering to the RD28ETI.

Yes you are right that ZD30 only came out in 00,
The RD28t as it is the same as a TB45de one and different to the TD engines.
Here is the exact listing for the Tacho assy in the cluster for Aus delivered patrol wagons.
I Reckon your problem will be in the wiring harness, check the wiring diagram for un required resistors maybe?

I rewired mine, 2.8 to 4.2, 3.0 will be the same . It wasn't that hard when I studied the wiring diagram.
you will need to find the two pins in the back of the dash and wire in the wires from the 4.2 taco sensor.
I removed my ecu and most of the engine loom, then made my own to suit.
trouble you will be having is the ecu runs the 3.0l taco whereas the 4.2 is run direct.
I have some more info here somewhere. I'll have a look. cheers
