Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hi

I am looking at building up a Suzuki as a weekend play truck.. Just wondering what model to use?
Things I will look at doing:
Cut into a single cab with tube tray
Big tyres 37's or bigger
Big lift etc...
Bigger motor..

It will be registered but modded after to run a crusier park..
This will not be a daily driver just a play rig.. Not interested in comps just some fun...
Any help would be great...

I would find a LWB sierra to start or a LWB vitara. Either way you will be looking at putting some major wotk into getting 37s under anything with a Suzuki badge on it. But it can be done and has been done countless times. Unless you are going for big rocks you really want it to be good lift not big lift. Mine is quite tall but it works well but I wish it was about 4 inches shorter.

If you can keep it on the road and regoed please let me know who you payed to pass it as you will NEVER get it engineered I would love to know.

PS do a little search you will find plenty of things good ad bad about everything you just said you wanted to do.

You will be very surprised how far a Sierra will go with minimal work. Get your self a LWB sierra plug a G16b out of a Vitara, 2" lift, 2" body lift, gears, locked and 31s will do circles around 90% of the bigger taller rigs that are legally regoed on the road.

Thanks for the info.. Only looking at a Suzuki for play and that is it. Just after it to crawl not a race machine... My GU wagon, although very capable is too big and expensive to go climbing over rocks all the time... So am just looking at what year model to look for... Are they all leaf spring....etc just after some info...

Dave, in qld you only get inspected when you change the rego ownership, not every year like NSW.

Lots of zooks that have rego getting around that are far from being road going. Normally just regod for the ability to get into parks, certain comps etc etc.

If you want that sort of thing try and get an early model 1lt and get club rego. Much cheaper

Dont bother buying a LWB if your going to hack it up.

LWB are more expensive and getting rare. Its becoming a crime to cut them up.

To run 37's your obviously going to need gearing, bigger/stronger diffs etc

Access to a welder and alot of time and research.

Best to look at peoples buildups and get specs etc from there.

Search my bulidup or Markil or V.W.Dave for starters........... then come and ask some questions.

Also Sierras are the best. Vitaras are for hairdressers

By the time you have done all the work to run 37's, there's no really that much advantage to starting with a sierra. A Sierra with 31's on it is more capable than your GU, regardless of model, so start small and work up to it.

I have a Suzuki that has a ute chop. It has lift a bigger motor and 38.5 swompers on it?

Hilux diffs+stretched wheelbase= hilux capability.

Some of us don't think hiluxes are very capable, and I've owned more hiluxes than I have suzukis.

Yeah it's not a joke...See this is why i said everyone is entitled to their opinion... Clearly they are capable, but really your comment... I would like to see a seirra with only 31's follow me at land cruiser park..Anyway, good luck with that..

I am looking at doing mods to the seirra that i have bought. If others dont like that or their dad is better than my dad, then really don't bother to comment.. I am sure others are doing things outside the square so go and claim your greatness on their thread, as I am not interested... I am sure that hilux are great, as patrols are and so are suzuki's all in their own right, so lets leave it at that and have a nice day.......

You shouldnt under estimate sierras, 31's are more than enough. Alot of people dont even get as big as 31's and go hard.

Yes it is tall.
It has a 2inh body lift and 30's.
I have some plans for it which include:
Cut the rear and tube tray the back
Chassis extension x 300mm
bigger diffs
change from leaf to coil ???
cut the front guards and tube it..
35"s now.

It is a toy not a daily driver.
