In QLD drop boxes are illegal, blah, blah, blah.

Personally I'd get a set of drop arms (also illegal but won't stand out as much if painted black).

But as to the discussion re boxes vs bushes go the boxes. ;)

I think where they sit. Paint anything black and no one will notice. Until they go looking. Anyone going looking to ping you for something will also know the arms aren't Nissan.

i actually have my drop boxes mod plated in qld, but in theory if u need drop boxes ur lift is also illegal so who really cares.

but defantly drop boxes are the way to go and dont believe wat people say about them getting hung up cos they dont realy, and if you look at an 80/100series cruiser they hang down just as much and you dont hear toyota drivers complaining about them. so my advice get a set and you wont regret it

The main reason i ask is that my car gets raced in a lot of speed events and i want the steering nice and direct.
We put boxes in a mates car and it flexed better and the front suspension seemed to work a bit better but it made the thing a pig to drive on the street.

I'm for boxes, put my Superior jobbies in about 3 years ago and I noticed the difference/improvement in ON ROAD handling immediately...speaks volumes for offroad use and i've never been hung up on them either!

im with twodiffs, drop boxes will correct your steering geometry better than any other form of castor correction, therefore resulting in near standard onroad handeling, if it still handles bad id be checking all the bushes in the front end and size and type of tyres will seriously affect onroad handeling aswell aswill loose wheel bearings and worn tierod ends.

Dunno why your mates car handled like a pig.

Drop boxes by far. Spend an extra $1000 on dropped radius arms and you are going backwards for ride quality. It doesn't matter how you shape a dropped radius arm they will still push the diff forward as the suspension compresses.
Poly bushes are useless and rubber castor correction bushes only give a 2 degree correction on a Patrol which is ideal for a 2" lift and just ok on a 3" lift. Still has same issues as dropped radius arms, that is pushing the diff forward as the suspension compresses.
