ok im in need of some advice apart from buy a warn i just dont have the $$

its an aldi winch and one of the main wires inside has came away from the bolt

i did manage to solder it back on using a big soldering iron but under the first heavy load it seems to have melted and gave way

any ideas on a fix for this ?? my only idea was to drill a small hole through the bolt and tap a thread for a smaller bolt on the inside to hold it together or just too mod the wire and have it slip under the bolt head

heres a pic of the problem so you can understand my rambling easier

Hey pcman,

I know an engineer that specialises in DC Motor repairs. That should be an easy and pretty cheap fix i'm guessing. Maybe you could try using silver solder first? that should take a bit more heat.

otherwise PM me and I will pass on his details.

yeah i know a motor reconditioner that does elevator and big 3 phase motors for lathes compressors n stuff and will try him if i cant work something out

my latest idea is to fit a large cable lug onto the wire and bolt it down just gotta make sure i have enough clearances

ended up using a cable lug bolted it all back together and it works fine only time will tell

better than spending more on a pos winch
