Hi Glen
I just went to Clark Rubber and bought some 100mmWx 3mm thick rubber strip. Cut it to length required and screwed it to the Mav' using 25mm gal. builder's strip.
Works well, is flexible and if it rips off, cheap to replace. If you take your time fitting, thaey can turn out not too bad looking either!!
Hope this helps!!

Yeah I got the clark rubber flares, they come in different widths upto about 40 or 50mm and are available for guards with or without lips, have a look at the link and u should be able to see them.

Did you flip it over and smash the other flares?

no no, the front one on the left of the car was damaged in a disaggrement with a fence and i took the left rear one off so it would look right.

What type of plastic is the garden edge stuff- is it like rubber or is it harder like plastic sheet?

The stuff that comes from bunnings is like a harder plastic. It's best trimmed with an angle grinder, if that gives you an idea of what it's like.
