Hi Guys
I'm thinking of installing a full time locker in the front of my hj60, has anyone got one that can shed some light. I'm only using a full time locker as I can't afford a air locker, Amy help would be great thanks

They don't make Spartens for 9.5" Cruiser diffs yet.

I know it's a bit dodgy but what if I was to weld up my existing diff, I work at a steel fabricating shop, so I've got all te good gear to do it right???

A welded front is a bad idea. Put an auto locker in there.

If you weld it how do you plan to steer?

IMO put the auto lokka in the rear and save up your $$ for an air lokka for the front.
#1 Alot better control when your off road and much better on your CVs and axels.
#2 Toyota LSD in the rear is not worth a pinch of shit.
a few decent one wheel spins and it is burnt out.
I own and drive an 80 series too

if you weld it you can use one hub lock and then you need it lock the other one
i seen a bloke a patrol did it and it work a treat
that my opinion not mean shit

Why are you all so afraid of welded diffs? So many of you key board followers haven't even drive with a welded diff you just read the bad rap they get and fallow.
If you don't have the coin now to put a good locked set up in but you are going to then WELD it up. Yes they are a pig to steer. Make sure you unlock one hub if your going to be driving at any speed. Be careful as your more likely to bust your CVs. If the welds do let go then your going to run the risk of breaking teeth off the crown wheel.
Just take it easy till you know how to drive it dont just jump in the deep end with it.
Best way to do it is get a small offcut of tube and weld all 4 side gears to it then to each other.
I have run welded diffs for years and if welded up right they never let go.
ohhh and they never leak air and never need new springs to stop the unloading.
All for about $.50 of mig wire
Just weld it your going to change it later on. weld it and injoy.........

ive got a welded diff sitting in my garage that came in my cruiser. Driving it home was very strange. Not to mention the looks when you do a uturn at the servo!
that said, by the time id got it home id learnt how it reacts under cornering and was easily able to drive to suit it. (mostly just slower into corners!)
