Hi Ive got a 1983 RN46 hilux, with following mods
v6, t700, lift, 80 series front diff, 55 series rear diff and axle with locker & hilux front disks, hydraulic handbrake, etc etc...
This thing has been unregistered for a few years now, and i want to get it back on the road, so i need to get a mechanical handbrake for the roady.
Can anyone suggest my best option? and can anyone recommend someone to do this mod?
I halso have a hzj75 rear axle and diff in peices, would i be better off getting this rebuilt and putting this under it?
Thanks for your help
Sim

If you can organise a disc rear end then there is the possibility of using Subaru Leone front calipers which have a cable operated handbrake. Several good options in that regard around (Roctoy from this forum does caliper mount brackets IIRC)

My Subey front caliper mod as a disc hand brake, mounted on to my Bushie.

In the landie scene, they are called 'X-brakes', from some UK mob that build them.

Thanks for the response guys.
I have looked into the subaru calipers, but i think the rotors might be too thin??
MADSHORT they are the hilux front calipers and the discs are solid about 12mm thick.
Nice rig bushy!

Know a few people that have these in their Landies, all have had it release on them. Had it happen to me in a mates fender in my own driveway

I'm not sure where this fella is but my engineer in NSW told me tail shaft hand brakes are not acceptable as a modification they are only acceptable as a factory fitted item (go figure).

Yep, Thats most likely the case. But me little mod passed a NSW blue slip and every pink slip since building it in Jan 07 without even a single question...
And with the use of a rangie transfer (don't lock the centre diff), you can lock up the rear tailshaft and have an instant front dig.
