Seriously, still using worm gear hose clamps?

I take it you believe super expensive wiggins or tbolt clamps are required?
Money for nothing as far as im concerned. If the boost is high enough to warrant these items it should also be running pipe braces to reduce the chance of them blowing out.
Fortunately, we will be keeping this build under 30psi. Far shy of the 50+ that would warrant anything more substantial being in place.

I paid around $3.50 for my T clamps.
So whats changed with the GTX30 over the GT30 series? Or are they a different family?
Boost response is good compared to a 2876 - But a 2876 isn't really suited to a 4.2 diesel at all is it? Trim wise?

Nope the 76's are a horrible choice on a td42 but alot of people swear by them for some reason?
The main difference with the X series is they run a billet compressor wheel. So it is lighter and stronger than traditional cast items. It also has much different aero configuration. Garrett has a good write up on their site about it with some pics to.

Would love to see a video of this on the dyno
Is that possible? Alot of the 200rwkw setups I have seen smoke their box off.
13mm plunger and how many CC's to make this power? Peak EGT's?

Its actually pretty clean on boost. You can see the smoke, but its not like most setups where you cant see the car for it.
Couldnt tell you how many cc's sorry. The car came to us with the pump already done and we have not touched the tune on it.
With the old setup it was about 14:1 full load @ 28psi. Now running 16:1 @ 28psi.
Really needs another 10psi or so into it to get the power really cranking. With the run we did at 32psi the afr had leaned off to 18.5:1.
Going to have a play around with pump timing and intake mods on monday so maybe a bit more power out of it yet.
Peak egt is 700d in the manifold.

Pretty clean on boost...Ok so what does it look like when it's dumping fuel in to get the exhaust wheel moving?

About half as bad as most trucks running that kind of power.
The afr graph is up there to look at.

Its only a calculation. Only way to measure real torque is to put it on an engine dyno.

480 ft lb = 650 Nm i wouldn't mind that

Nothside have you got anywhere with the billet crank and CNC rods yet?
I used to use hose clamps too, at 25 PSI but eventually they will fail right where you dont want them to. Use billet clamps from super cheap and copper ultra silicone now, no worries.

Waiting on stress test for the rods. Crank not yet.
Ive never had a worm gear clamp fail to be honest.
If the pipe has a decent lip rolled in it and it is free of oil before you put it on, it should never cause a problem.
We did have this one up close to 40psi without problems.

I had one fail after about 2 yrs of use, I nailed it out of a roundabout in Sydney,2nd to 3rd gear and floored it again wheel spin and rapid turbo reponse ensued, a big boof of air, sounded like the head blowing off, just the outlet hose from compressor to IC, has a good lip on it I machined it myself, had to limp it too supercrap to get a billet clamp.
It had completly stripped the wormgear out of the pressed metal housing. Mind you it has been holding 25psi for the last 2 yrs, 100k.

Point taken. I will let you know if/when I ever hear of one failing as you have said.
Been 12 years running so far without a failure, so I dont think it will be anytime soon lol

My mate told me that when he spoke to you that you guys would not put any thing bigger than a gt2871 on a td42.he has a gt3071 t3 flange external gate on the truck now,is this a Simiar size turbo.

Normally we stick to GT28/60. I refuse to use 28/71&76 on the td42's as I personally feel they are a horrible match for that engine.
If your going bigger it may as well be done properly with the 30series, so thats what we have decided on.
It will be the same size turbo but the main difference will be the GTX runs a billet compressor wheel with improved aero design and a custom rear housing size.

Is the HP and torque calculated at the crankshaft or wheels.
I was geting 920ftlb @wheels 33", with 25psi @ manifold,75cc fuel,20:1 AFR, Dyno dynamics dyno calibrated monthly.

Did you buy the worm drive hose clamp from Supercheap aswell? Not all hose clamps are equal, e.g. Repco brand clamps fall apart when you tighten them but Tridon or Wurth clamps are generally fine.

Hmmm thats like 1245nm at the rears, not quite double what I have. Wish I could make that.
Are you sure that wasn't tractive effort or whatever it is?

My bad it was tractive effort. What does that equate to in Nm at the wheels?

Im not sure what it equates to or how the conversion is calculated in the dyno, but the tractive effort put out by this particular car is 7000N. Most standard GU patrols will not quite put out 3000N with those kind of tyres and taller diff ratio's.
I use the torque readings only to determine the gain over what it had before we modify the car so 3000 to 6000 means 100% to me.
Thats all I work off, what it measures or how it measures means nothing to me as long as it does it the same way run after run.

on a big turbo like that the manifold would have to be T3 flanged woudnt it? custom GT28 to GT30 housing T3 in and a 5 bolt GT28 rear outlet?

Yes It is a T3 housing with 5bolt rear.
The housing made for it can be either internal or external gate.
