Shudder's when taking off

Hey guys. I'm having some difficulties with my 80 series at the moment.
Im driving a 1995 4.5l petrol 80 which has the auto Gearbox in it.
Sometimes when i take off from a standing start it tends to Shudder until i take my foot off the pedal and then ill put my foot back on the pedal and it will be fine.
Its happening quite a bit more lately as to when it first started and its starting to get me a bit worried. it doesn't seem to be doing it when im in 4wd though, although i havent really been in the bush that much of late.

Does anyone have any idea's on what this could be??

Josh

is the box doing it or the engine? Put new fluid and filter in the box and see if that makes a difference. if not, it would be something that a transmission mechanic should be able to pin point relatively quickly.

you say when you take off it shudders ,start with your basics like loose wheel nuts, missing -loose bolts on tailshaft etc. if it shudders when your idleing standing still its prob going to be motor g-box related.

By "doesn't seem to do it in 4wd" you mean you have a base model with free wheeling hubs? Or it doesn't seem to do it with the centre diff locked?

Does the shudder come on more or less than 20km/hr? What happens if you try to push through the shudder?

Does it do it in neutral while stationary?

Do the symptoms return when slowing down?

If you get specific there's a good chance people here can help you. The symptoms could be a heap of things so far.

i have a GXL but put a part time kit on it as its got a 5 inch lift to stop the driveline vibration.

The shudder only occurs on take off, from 0km to about 10km, i havent tried to push through the shudder as i don't want it to bust so i take my foot off the pedal and it stops shuddering, as soon as i put my foot back on the pedal its fine.

Does not do it when in neutral, only when under load.

The shudder doesn happen when slowing down, only from a standing start, under load.

Cheers mate, hopefully someone can help me out here :)

I had an Auto Trans service prob about 1000km ago because of this shudder but it hasn't made a difference at all.

Yeah i reckon im gonna have to take it to a Trans mechanic and just get a diagnoses of the problem.

Cheers

It's not taking off in a high gear is it? Try locking it in first and see how it goes.

Driveline shutters can be caused by gear box and engine mounts. Had a bad shutter after changing my clutch. Checked out everything mechanics told me to and need up being my gearbox mount. Could be worth a try.
