G'day mate,
CV's of the same size and material are considered stronger than Uni's. Longfield's are said to be as strong as stock Dana 60's so 44's shouldn't be near as strong. It's interesting they make Uni's to replace CV's and RCVperformance make CV's to replace Uni's. I like the story on the page about him being surprised not to break them while in reverse in 2' of snow. I imagine stock CV's would hold up in 600mm of snow.

Running a single uj in place of a birfield joint will give a lot of undesirable vibration and shimmy on turns. Birfield joints were invented to overcome these problems. Why go backwards?

they make no difference to your steering your vehicle will drive same as it is now
only advantage is when u snap uni joint and not axle you can keep driving on the axle ears
