Stainless Steel Roll Bar

This may be a random idea but is it possible to manufacture a roll bar/cage out of stainless steel tube? Is it practical in terms of structural strength and to work with?

The reason I ask is I see alot of polished stainless used in the marine industry and though of its application to my needs. Also the polished finish would look a treat. I can see it being more $ but that is all part of this planning.

If it is a possibility, can anyone suggest who can do such work?

Many thanks

yes you can, would I - no.
Its prone to flex cracking, way harder to bend and needs special dies with longer rads, and to have a great polish that lasts would need to be 316 which is dearer, harder etc. If its just for looks run a 316 bar made from mandrel bends. Midway metals would be the place to buy them. $17 each plus you will need to buy a full 6m length of the steel required.

cheers bru

If you want it for rollover protection, the best you could probably do would be to polish it all then clearcoat it...
