Settle a Bet 80 vs 105

Post by SCANAS »

Outers can you settle a bet for me?

I was under the impression 80 and 105 have identical diffs, cvs, hubs etc.

Housemate disagrees, says 105 stuff is smaller + weaker.

I know HZJ100 stuff is different to FZJ105R stuff but I thought 105 was the same as FZJ80R

Thanks,

Dan

105 series is stronger. 10mm hub bolts, larger axles front and rear. Diffs are identical bar the side gears (to accommodate bigger axles). Not 100% sure on CV's, I think they are similar, except of course for axle size.

I think the 105 series rear diffs are 9.5" like the 80 series but have 32 splines on the side gear. CV's are the same. 105 series have 5 stud hubs.

x1.8

105 have thicker rear axles and more splines, also thicker and larger diameter axle flanges. rear diff centre is the same size.
105 front diff centre, axles and cv's are the same size as in 80s, but have larger hub flange and studs etc
