They are ok for driving around town but one the open road they are slow. With stock wheels you can do 110km tho. I fail to see how cutting a zook into a ute would make it better as a tourer? They are to small and uncomfy to use as a tourer unless you pack well and have upgraded the seats.

They are still pretty bad on fuel cos your driving them full throttle to get anywhere. But if you drive em slow they aren't to bad. My 1.3 gets between 8.5-9l/100km but it is bog stock apart from the gsx carbs and a mid range cam. From memory the 1litre we used to have would do about 10L/100km.
Once you add big tyres etc it is all down hill for economy and highway ability and will become a pain if your going to be doing big kms.

I had one and for a 1984 model carbed motor I thought it was awesome ... is was getting 550ish to a tank mostly hiway running at full throttle to boot.

Our one was an 84 aswell. They carbs on them are awesome compared to the 1.3's so in good knick I reckon you probably could get economy that good. Our's burnt and leaked oil and was old and worn out which is probably why our economy was crap.

I had a LWB 1.0l for 19 years, it was the greatest little rig that I ever owned, cruised happily at 105kph. I preferred the 1.0l over the 1.3 litre, just nicer gearing with less gear changing. Only got rid of it because I needed 4 doors.
