GQ petrol to diesel conversion (wiring help!!)

hi guys,
am in the process of converting my GQ 4.2 petty do a 4.2 diesel, understand bacicly everything mechanical,
but when it comes to the wiring loom i wouldnt have a clue. iv had a look at alot of threads and cant find simple questions or answers.
if some one could help with the following it would be much apreciated:
- do you need to change the entire loom (alot of threads say to just unplug the diesel loom and plug it straight in to the other car)
- if possible i would rather not pull me hole dash apart to change loom, is this possible
- can you use the petrol loom, if so what needs to be added and is it worth it.
- could you cut the loom after it comes throught the fire wall and conect it in to the petrol one (difficult?)
any advice would be great

ps the diesel was an st with power windows and all that, the petty is a ti with all the same.
