Anything over 2" os overboard - it will ride terribly and won't flex.
The best lift you can do on a sierra is cut the guards or run a small (2") bodylift to run a bigger tyre.
Low is the new lift. a lower car is more stable and more predictable.
Steve.

As Gman said. Doing it that way your only out a few $$ for the body lift and some time. If its a daily driver you don't need to do much to them.
Another option is get a new set of 2" lifted rears take a leaf out put them in the rear with a set of 1" shackles. Move your old rears to the front with 2" shackles. (cut off and move back the rear chassis spring hanger back 25mm).
That set up only lifts the chassis by 1" once it settles in and will level it out in stance. The rear ends on sierra never (without a heap of work) really works that well but this set up will make the front work more and keep your stability on-road.
Here is a 3rd option and is a fairly good write up on how too
