Hey guys have searched but could not find anything...

My 12ht cruiser has a problem on startup ie been sitting for 3 hours or more... where the engine will fire.. but wont idle.. if i hold the startermotor cranking for an extra (3seconds) if that.. it will idle or if i tap the accelerator it will then idle... it will die if i dont do this...

have had this problem before and after then injectors were done.. im guessing there is ment to be some sort of fuel up like the 2H engines fitted with edic motors..

if anyone could shed some light on this be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Sounds like the leather diaphram has perished in the back of the pump. Does the engine hunt at idle (Meaning does it rev up and down at idle?)
If this is the case u can get a diaphram and try and install it yourself tho i would be careful as there is washers on a pin inside the pump. And u dont want to drop them inside the pump lol. Otherwise id recommend going to a diesel specialist and get them to do it :)

nah none of that idles beautifully just on start up it dies unless you tap the accel mind you if i rev it and drop the accel off the revs will also drop down low.. almost to stall before it picks up

Might have that checked out anyway

I thought the leather diaphram was only on 3B and older motors, not the 12HT/13BT and newer

I know the 12HT and 2H motor have the leather diaphram. I'm unsure on the 13BT motors. These pumps need vaccum to operate the rack properly and if the diaphram has a crack/hole u will run into all sorts of little problems. Especially idle
