Hey

Ive done a search and found abit of info on 1UZ's into lux's but curious as to what radiators people are using?
It has to stay in the front, no tray mount. Limited room also, only about 650mm max. I know AU falcon ones are popular but they are about 700+ wide.
Also what power steer pump are they running? Do you just mod the lines to suit the lexus PS pump fittings?
...and the alternator?

I would really like to talk to someone whos done this, maybe PM me you number so i can give u a call.

Thanks Justin

i have a close mate, with said engine in a hilux.
send me a pm, ill get some info, photos for you.
the engine is SENSATIONAL!! in an old hilux.
you need to pull the diffs out and make sure on the crownwheel and pinion
get full contact as my mate has given HIS HELL, and hasnt broken a diff yet, it is running a lockright in the rear though!
spent like 3 days on setting the rear diff up, full contact and cleaning any burr.
its a real credit to him to see and even get a ride in his car and see that the car still hasnt broken the rear diff. running 33 maxxis muddies.
it is awesome at FULL NOISE!!

I used the standard alternator on mine. I dont have ac and removed the fan drive pump so the belt only runs the alternator and powersteer pump which is standard also.

The power steer lines from a soarer are joined half way down to the rack, you can split the line here and screw it straight into the factory hilux hose, I also removed the speed sensor from the top of the line and got a hex head bung from a hose supplies to block the port.

I used to run the standard Hilux diesel radiator in mine with twin 10 inch fans mounted to the front pushing the air into the radiator. This setup worked perfect for all types of driving untill I put it in low range. One way to fix this would be to just run the pipes around the chassis a bit to add more water volume to the system.

When I first got mine running I just ran the lines from the power steering box straight tot he pump, problem with this is the lines are very short. If I was only driving around the street etc it was fine, but as soon as I went 4x4ing I would cook pumps real quick and as soon as you cook a pump its fucked. You realy need to run a big power steering cooler in the system or you will have problems with cooking pumps, I did 3 before I fixed the problem.

My 4Runner's got the standard radiator with an aftermarket thermofan mounted behind and bolted to the radiator itself, keeps it nice and cool, it's a tight fit but i reckon the way to go, I still have all aux pumps including air-con running...

In mine i have a custom radiator with a davis craig 14" fam behind it pulling the air through, it stays way cool untill i start getting on the limiter in double low etc , then it begins to get hot but unless i am behaving extremely harsh on it i dont seem to get it mega hot. Russell has still got his diesel one with same fan with the same results

Use the alternator on the engine. Works great.

As guts said. Put a power steer cooler on it if you plan on low range work, its hard on the steering and cooks pumps. High range is fine

Another note on cooling, falcons run a header tank in their cars because it works, putting one in the lux will work aswell

They can be a pain in the a$s with all the work involved but omg sooo worth it

Havent check this in a while cos there was no action on it.

A few things to think about and look into now.
Ive had the 3rz idea moving around in my head too now but ive been watching clips of 1uz's in lux's and like u said i think it would be worth it!

Cheers
