Just had a thought. I've just put an older high mount on my truck but was thinking over the years they have kept increasing the motor size but have they change the gear ratios. I know you can buy aftermarket gears but was just thinking genuine cause a 2.1 hp motor would need different gears to a 4.6 I would think to still be 8000 pound ?

I'm not after a new set mate I'm just wondering if warn have ever changed. If I put a 4.6 hp motor on will mine be as fast

Mate if you are just using it for social driving bolt a 7.5 or whatever size they are onto it! Not many conp guys use them because they supposively can't hand 24v up their ass, but being used with 12v they are fine, not sure on pricing though.

I think u are all missing the point of the question, he's asking if the standard ratios have been changed with the newer models. Answer, I dunno, I've never heard of some standard highmounts being different but it does seem strange that they are all still 8000lb

I think you would find all high mounts have the same gear ratios...... I had a chat with Mal Leslie once about it and if they had different gears over the years I'm sure he would have mentioned it.

I'm sure high mounts have only ever been fitted with 2.5 and 4.6hp motors, never the 6hp from the warn factory.

I had a 2.5 hp, and was looking at bolting on a 6. He did say the speed increase would be negligible, but the duty cycle would be dramatically better.

Maybe give him a call at SGLeslie and son at Heidelberg Vic. If anyone knows definitively, he will.
