Hey lads, i've looked around and can't seem to find a cable speedo drive to replace the electronic one found in the Rv6 4 runner R150f 5 speed. I'd like to do this in order to keep my dash standard as it is a gen 2 lux. Any idea's or parts that will fit to suit would be great to hear about.

cheers

Speedo sensor runs off the transfer. Looked into it a bit but changing from a magnetic pickup to a rotational cable drive seemed too hard. Ended up fitting a gear drive transfer which meant problem solved for speedo and more gearing/strength options. You'd probably have to do this or change dashes to suit. Not sure any gen 2s or even early surfs ran a suitable swap with the electronic speedo.

One out of a Surf may fit if same transfer, got a feeling they may be different tho.
Auto/manual are same transfer.

Good news, not only did I find a cable speedo drive for an r150f I found 3. Turns out w58 and some early surfs have them. Also found auto and manual units differ by 2 teeth. :)

Interesting, do you mean 2 tooth difference between surf auto (A343F) & manual (R150) or w56 & surf auto ?

I think the manual ones were 33 teeth and auto 31. W58 and r150 were the same but its toyota, the next box could be different.

That's interesting. So it's just a case of swapping over the speedo gears or are you swapping the whole transfer? Seems like alot of effort for a chain drive transfer but I guess if it suits your application.

I understand this but getting an adaptor allows your to retain the gear drive transfer behind the r150f which gives you alot more options and the mechanical speedo drive. Anyway, good luck I have the exact setup except I went with the gear drive. :)
