I am looking at purchasing a new Navara D22 but am curious about the power output being only 98kw when the D40 with the same motor has much more.
I wish to know what other people have done to bring the power output up to a more respectable level?
And if anyone can explain why Nissan have "DE-Tuned" the yd25 in the D22.
I know the capabilities of a D22 are nothing compared to the Patrol but when you consider an Average Km GU patrol will cost you roughly the same as a brand new D22
which i believe to be a tried and tested Vehicle i find it hard to justify.

d22 has normal turbo instead of the variable turbo the d40 has. no doubt nissan detuned it so it didn't take sales away from the D40 range.
disabling the egr makes it a lot better in the low rpm's.
otherwise its a matter of poking enough fuel in to get the power up. no doubt its probably possible to fit D40 turbo onto it.
theres a few write ups in the navara forums.

the yd25 in the d22 is tuned for alot of hard work related km's
peak power means nothing in a work truck.

buy it, put fuel in it, work it for 5 years buy another one.

i disagree with that. the d22's don't do anything the D40's are not asked to do. the d40's havn't died because of work load etc.
the lower power is just marketing.
