Has anyone seen or heard of a BOSS 260 going into an 80 Series Landcruiser?
Been googling for awhile but are finding nothing.
I also heard the Ford motor is a bit bigger than the LS1-2, is that true?

Cheers
Dez

its a wide engine, could be done. A body lift would help to clear the heads.
xr6 turbo engine would be easier.
boss engines have to rev, not like a normal v8, carring the weight of an 80 will get boring after a while.
If you want a late model ford v8, i wouldnt go past a 5.6 out of a au pursite.
better yet get a after market bottom end stroke to 347cc, add heads and the gear one cam no worries.

Youi want to put a massive engine that makes less power for twice the weight, less aftermarket support in an 80 series? There is a reason the LS1's are used. Simple, lighter, more power, aftermarket support etc

VooDoo how does the Boss 260 make less power than the LS1, both can be tuned in stock form to nearly 300kw and possibly 550 Nm of torque.

Its always made less power than the LS1, takes up twice as much room and weighed twice as much. They don't rev as well, upgrading cams is 4 times as expensive, the LS1 has years worth of development and advancement where the Boss is a dead engine. Dont get me wrong, i loved em to drive in the fords but as a potential engine swap candidate they dont even get a look. The only time id consider one is in an old school XC coupe or similar.

dont make less power than a piston slapper
all they do is rev
you dont spend money on cams to get power out of these engines
the ford modular engine has been in development since 97 till now
ls1 hasnt changed- mabey tunes
ford relised that small cubes can beat cheve's dinosour with a tad of boost, turbo hyundai owners already knew this

For the record, Ford didn't develop the engine, Jaguar did.
I followed the development with great interest, and then Ford bought out Jag and months later revealed the "All New V8 engine*"

Ford in thier great wisdom also decided to use a rediculously over complicated computer system which makes a conversion all but impossible and very expensive.
Also due to the width of the thing being a 90 degree V8 it won't clear the front suspension towers in most street cars, adding to the lack of aftermarket support.
Besides, in a 4WD you want torque, not HP, the LS1 has that in spades

The computer system / wiring is not to bad and that part is deffiantly able to be sorted out for a conversion.

However yes I would go for the chev LS motors anyday over the ford motor

And no I have not seen an 80 series with the 5.4yet, But we can do anything if ya got the money :D

Wow stress less guys, nobody asked what was better, nor does anybody care, its all just the flavour of your desire and thats it. If he wants to go ford then let him, not everyone wants aftermarket or whatever. Maybe he just prefers ford and thats all the reason he needs

In my opinion the chev is a better engine to swap in, but if it were me i would go a turbo 1 uz. But thats me

Help him out with his problem that he politeley asked for help with and stop having a bullshit bitch fest over whos knob is fatter

Due to limited experience i cant give any further info than this thread already contains
