It finally happened !

Lay the Feroza on its side today !

At the Wandin 4x4 Field Day on their Test-Track. Took the road marked VH........a rather large hole on the passenger side........attempted to straddle it, but rear wheel slipped in.

Ended up laying on the passenger side.

Only damage........well.....nothing broken........only bent some Flare mounting brackets and dented the gutter over the passenger door.
No scratches, no panel damage.

I think I got out of it pretty lightly.....scared the living sh*t out of the passengers in the rear seats !!

Oh.........sorry, no pics !!!

Yeah.....got sick of sitting 'round, so I took it off the ramp 'bout 3pm and headed down to the track.

First time round.......thought.....I can straddle that hole...........

D'oh !!

near miss

Ferozius , must have been the day for it , had a near miss today , went out with 5 other cars , 1 of each brand , to Moore river . After doing a shallow river crossing I was trying to climb an embankment to get over to the other side ( a very steep angled embankment ) After a few attempts I finally got up and over , then the passenger side slipped into a wash away and I drove the Feroza on the 2 side wheels for about 5 mtrs on a very scary angle , pucker factor out of 10 , I reckon about 15 . No pic's of the moment and the vid camera was getting a battery change , but I've got the skid marks to prove it .......

Andrew , how'd ya get it back on all 4's

Pushed it back, then got pulled out with a snatch. Had to wait for 'bout 5mins for the oils to settle and for the engine to run properly again !!

Ferozius - is your feroza on 35" simex's?

If it is - then no wonder you lay it on its side - the wheels are virtually touching in the middle :finger:

you are in need of some wheelbase. hehe :finger:

I know.......the Hilux diff is 3" narrower than the Feroza diff......need some wheel spacers or an IFS rear end :?

Ferozius, get an IFS rear end, and for the front use IFS disc's, calipers etc..should push it out 1.5" per side...then your back to Daihatsu width :)

Either that or BIG sliders with airbags

My mate Shane's nickname is Tipsy McStagger....looks like he has a cousin now! :finger:

And next time...get photos dagnabit! hehe Good to see you got off lightly matey.

C'mon Murray.......there's a first time for everything

Shane's got a narrow track hasn't he ?? (white)

BTW - the video of you 'bouncing' up that track looked like fun !

Hehehehe :P

Yeah he's narrow track, black n silver. The home brew ginger beer also knocks him legless..so the nickname has many uses!!!

That track was fun, but I didn't really feel like it was gunna roll..

The prob when I do this converting is that the tyres stick too far outside the flares  ..................I've already had one of those little yellow stickers for that problem and had to go for the skinnier Centipedes rather than the 2" wider Swampers. Although I wouldn't mind some Claws or Maxxis but they're even wider than the Swampers.

Do you know of anyone that can fabricate wider flares (to make it look stock) ?? I want to try and keep it looking standard..........albeit lifted !
I've been to a few glasser's but they didn't want to touch it.....especially for a one off. :(

I only know of bushranger flares, not that cheap...I'm considering these for my rear flares..don't know if they make em for Feroza's of course...could always customise :) Basically attach a flare to the flare...

I considered that, but there's not to many points where you can mount it :?

What I may try this weekend (if I get off my fat ass :)

Go to Bunnings, get some black plastic garden edging about 3" wide. Get a small drill bit (I broke mine heh), also need to get a tool, but bugger me I can't remember the name of it, puts a bit of metal through the hole and fastens each side...

So basically put holes in the garden edging, and corresponding holes in the feroza flare, there is just enough lip on the inside edge of the flare to do this, should hold and look pretty good....

Hope all of this makes sense :)

Howdy guys :D

How easy would it be 2 fit a set of wide track flares 2 a narrow track feroza?
Also does anyone know how much a set would cost through the wreckers?

When I had my Feroza I priced the wide track flares to cover the 31's I put on ti and they were ridiculously expensive. It was well over $1200 to do all 4 guards. But that was a few years ago...

From what I can remember (when I destroyed two flares) the OE flares are 'bout $320each

OUCH !!! Nice and pricey

The wreckers would probibly want top dollor 2 because i priced a few things over a year ago and i got a new fan resistor cheaper than through the wreckers and also got a set of wide track rims of Mike H cheaper than the wreckers. :D :D :D :D

I'll go and find out sometime soon from the wreckers and i'll let u know how much they wanna charge.

Maybe a patrol bonnet scoop would look nice on it aswell :finger: :finger:
