it prob will bolt up however there is more of an issue with getting the 4.8L motor to run

The 4.8L engines use an all in one ECU/TCU where as the older 4.5L use a ECU for the engine and a seperate TCU for the Auto box.

betting the 4.8L engine to run without the TCU connected is apparently hard work unless u get a seperate ECU to run the 4.8L engine

The GU 4 speed auto will definately bolt up to the TB48 & would be one of the best auto's to use in a TB48 powered comp truck or turbo/high power TB48 when built.

Kewish auto's in Dandenong Vic (03) 9793 2220 is a good place to go regarding the GU auto's.

Cheers

thanks guys.
I have the computer and loom for the 4.8l, so making it run should not be a problem.

The RE5R05A does run a seperate TCM. It's located inside the LH kick panel.

The tb48 5 speed auto's run a seperate gearbox controller. I've got one here. Wanted to run one in my patrol after a bit of research seemed like way to much stress as the hole lots inter connected, ecu, dash ignition barrel and gearbox controller. So went an aftermarket ecu and a manual gearbox from a tb42. The 4 speed auto will bolt up to the tb48, the gearbox's from behind the GU 4.5l being the pick of the bunch.
