gday, ive had a set of drop box's in my gq lwb for about 12 months now(no idea what brand they are) and it has a bit of steering shimmy which it didnt have when i was running the caster correction plates, its running 7" king springs(from what i can work out they have droped to about 6"),im thinking that they may be the incorrect box's for the lift,so can any one who is running these give me a measurement from the 10mm plate that mounts under the chassis to the centre of the hole where the radius arm locates? thanks for any help.

I just installed a set today on a GQ shorty, they measure 4" from centre to centre of the bolt holes, which would mean they are 2" from the centre of the 10mm plate. They are fitted for a 4" lift.
You may need to run drop arms aswell for a lift that size. Do you have caster corection bushes aswell?

hey mate, if you dont know what brand and lift they are for try running a 2deg castor bush in your radius arms (if they are standard ones). i was running the wizard 5-7in droppies with 2deg bushes in one of me utes before i lowered it and it drove fine. some drop boxes are advertised as 'slim line' (for more clearance) but i think they are only good for up to 5in lift. i'll have a look at the measure of these boxes tomorrow and get back to you. as in regards to sir_142 comment, whats wrong with what should be "standard" springs??????

no mate only 35"s but i like a lifted vehicle,i drive it the same as when it standard, other than the minor steering shake/shimmy it drives perfect!

i might be in trouble then i just measured mine and from the underside of the 10mm thick mounting plate to the centre of the big hole that the end of the radius arm goes through measures 2.5",so these might only be for 5" lift?
thanks for all the reply's too.

If they are poly bushes then don't fit them because you will have less front flex then a stock Patrol. Seriously. Rubber will work well. You can get 6-7" drop boxes. That said, it may not be the drop boxes causing your problem, check out your panhard rod bushes.

Have you had someone turn the wheel back and forth while you look at all the moving parts?

Hold (cup) your hand over the panhard bushes whilst someone shakes vehicle side to side. You will feel if there is any play or knock.

if its not the panhard bushes or tyre balance/rim bent then it could be the wheel bearings or king pin bushes

i have run wizard 7" drop boxes for over 10 years and done a lot of remote touring, competitions and weekend playing with no problems.

Any wobbles have been caused by ... panhard bushes, wheel bearings, wheel balance/bent rim and lastly king pin bearings in that order.

I had the same problem with mine. Turned out to be kingpin bushes. Worth a check....
