Outer Limits 4x4 Board

As per the thread title, I'm trying to figure out why the front end in the rocky has a panhard rod - I'm assuming it's there to reduce bump/droop steer. Would removing it improve my flex?

Haven't ever had a leaf spring fourby, buy I believe panhards are sometimes added to lifted leaf sprung rigs to improve stability on road. tall flexy leaves mounted in rubber bushed shackles can flex side ways under normal driving, braking on uneven surfaces etc

Rocky's had factory panhards, some of the bigger American trucks are the same.

Usually called track bars...
in narrow wheelbase cars in particular they tend to help handling a lot.

Unbolt it and see if it makes much difference to the ride, you may find it feels like a coil spring vehicle with the front sway bar disconnected- in terms of front end float, not body roll.

Yeah, will just see what happens. Have a sway bar there which will be getting disconnected too...

when I had my rocky I took the swaybar off, noticed a decent amount of extra flex but not really noticeable onroad. Never bothered with the panhard tho.

Pull it off. I removed the sway bar and panhard rod off the front of my Rocky, and didnt notice a lot of difference on road, but it made a big difference off road. Lets face it, they are not the best sports car on the road. If you lift lifted suspension, and keep the standard panhard, it will pull the drivers side down something drastic.

i hate to be devils advocate (actually i love playing devils advocate )

but if there was an accident, and you had your swaybar and panhard removed, surely you would be hung out to dry?

I took mine of when i put the raised springs in as the original was to short.When i got the adjustable one and set it up properly it got rid of the bump steer plus i needed it for engineering. Also made adjustable sway bar disconnects.
