I have a 98 Rodeo Dual Cab with a 2 inch body lift , did it probably 6 years ago, mabey longer and I have definitely not seen any body cracking because of it. Not sure where you got this impression.

Pros:-
With the body lift I managed to squeeze 33"muddies under it. Look through past posts and you will find what I did.

With the body higher and thus more space between the engine and bonnet, I could put an intercooler on from a 3.2 litre Jack. Without the intercooler would hit the bonnet.

Cons:-

None that I could think of.

The Rodeo is a bit retarded when it comes to getting it off the ground. The lift was simple to do but be aware if you go over 2"you may have troubles with the steering column coupling.

i did mine with alloy blocks, made them myself, cost about the same as an ebay body lift though, i never did get around to lifting the bumper though. Things to watch out for is the bracket for the handbrake, undo the steering colum yoke and do it back up after the lit, and there were a few other, i have a detailed thread on australia4wd. Id copy and paste a link but its too hard on my nokia

also, drilling the alloy blocks makes your drill bits blunt
