Hey all just need to know what size the TRE threads are on a GQ. Wanna make a new tie rod behind the diff as I bent mine real bad last weekend.

I read that they are a 30mm X 1.5mm But this seems way big!!! It would mean you would have to use like 36mm O.D bar! is this correct?

Spwn too cause I have some 33 O.D 4140 I was going to use :bad-words:

Cheers

30x1.5 are the female threaded ends, ie they screw over the top of your rod.
the normal ones are 22x1.5.

What tap do I need then to do a tie rod? I am not looking at it and cant remember what the set up is on this rod.

2 Male TRE each end???
So I just drill and tap both ends with a left and right hand thread?

Thanks for the info Wendle

ist the tierod usd for wheel alingment adjustment, i would tend to think you need the left and right hand threads for correct adjustment, otherwise it will be difficult to adjust........i may be wrong

you just need to disconnect one end to adjust it.. no big drama in the scheme of things..

Get your old bent tie rod out cut the ends of leaving a couple of inches after the threaded section now get some 1 1/2 shed 80 tube and slide the 2 ends in weld them up and you have a heavy duty tie rod that i still havent bent after 4 months of abuse on rocks

Thanks but I already got the 33od 4140 solid bar there.

Does anyone know what model to get male threaded balljoints/TRE's to suit my truck from. Toyota ones have different taper and I have the female type ones on the bent tie rod I have now.

Are these female ones stronger? Should I just get the solid bar machined to suit? It would seem a lot easier to just drill and tap a hole for the male type ones but...........

Cheers
