Speaking of dropped hubs, at Wandin (VIC) 4WD show yesterday, Ritter Automotive had on display, I think it was Maxi-drive brand dropped reduction hubs. I couldn't find anyone to give me info on them but I assume they are for Rovers but they were standalone from CV to disk so it should be possible to retro fit them to other axle housings.
Unfortunately I don't have any more details and I didn't have a camera but if anyone is interested I guess Ritter Automotive in Melbourne would be a good start.
Cheers.

ring around a few wreckers and see how much for a set of GU diffs (they are supposed to be one the strongest readily available), while you are on the phone find out how much a set of CVs are and ring and pinion (they will need a ratio change) and a locker.
Add all that up. How much?
You will still break the GU stuff (i doubt you will break the mogs) so you may want more than one spare set of cv's.
When you factor in how much to build up one the so called cheap diffs, they arent so cheap!
With the mogs, rockwells, volvos you are buying a bloody strong diff that will take all the abuse you can give it!

I priced 900 series Mogs that are a bit bigger, and they were $ 24,000 new and that was pulling a few strings.
Thats alot of 60's.

Not many.
Say you got a hilux. Add twin lockers, longfields, dual transfer and you get to $4500 easily and this doesent include the core cost of the axles, and you still dont have anywhere near the axle as these mogs.
Try to buy a front dana 60. For a stocker they are $3000. Unlocked in wrecker condition.
There is no cheap way to get a big axle.
I had about the same in my d44s by the time I regeared them and locked them.
$5000 is a lot of money to spend in one go but in the scheme of things isnt mch at all. I should be able to build this thing for around the $15000 mark.
You can still buy these axles totally remanufactured in a timber crate out of germany (these are as close to brand new as ou can get)

Not many!!
We were working it out the other day.
Sam paid 5 grand for PORTALS (6" MORE GOUND CLEARANCE), SUPER STONG EVERYTHING AND THEY ARE ALREADY FITTED WITH LOCKERS!!!!!
Not to bad compared to something like hilux.
Say $1000.00 for a pair of hilux diffs.
To get some strength (no where near a MOG) you need to fit chromoly axles ($500.00 for a pair of front axles) and $1200.00 for longfields.
Now to get selectable lockers you need a pair of ARB's so theres another $2400.00.
Now total all that up....
uummm dddaaaa deeee 1 plus ummmm subtract the 3 ummmmmm eeeeerrrrrrrrrr carry the 2 eeeerrrr mmmmm and you end up with.....
$5100.00
Now even if you already have the hilux diffs that only saves you $1000.00 but for the extra ground clearance and strength that should be worth the extra grand!!!!
