How hot should front wheel bearings be when u have driven 600kms, i put my hand on the free wheeling hub when i got home the other day from a trip and i could only keep my hand on it for about 4-5 seconds, the wheel bearings have only been recently replaced and have been nipped up once and no play in them at all

Hey mate when you check is usually at a servo during a trip and the hub will be abit warmer due to the use of your brakes to pull up. obviously heat is generated from the discs. If you use a infared gun generally they are around 40-50 degress running. Obviously the hotter they are the grease looses viscosity and turns to liquid form like oil. Best bet would be have a look and check the bearing surface to see if any heat marks on the bearing face and while your in there repack them. Dont over tighten them this is also a factor that causes over heating.

pretty much impossible to tell by feel due to the heat soak.
