GU 4.2TDi front mount intercoolers

My top mount ARE with scoop is past it's limits now and with my injector pump getting modded at the moment I need to find a solution.

I don't really want to go big cross country top mount as I don't want to cut my bonnet and 1700 bucks is a bit much. Sfari and ASE are too small for me I think. I'm at approx 150rwkW and 500Nm at the moment before modded pump on 25psi.

Figure a front mount could be done for a lot cheaper.

Wondering if anyone has pics, tips, cooler sizes used and where bought from, etc.

I know bonnet latch support, power steering cooler and thermo fan will present a challenge.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Kyle

Ha mate 4x4 systems do a kit for $1000 and hi flow exhausts quoted me $1300 put in. The size was around 600 x 300 x 50 i woz told i would have to remove the ac fan and modify the bonnet support to do this i just installed twin thermo fans to cool the ac plus i got a bit more power taking out the viscus fan

Look into what ARE can do for you. Sure its, $$$ but the coolers are second to none.

They make all our duramax front mounts, approx 600x350x75. they are fitting behind the grill on a GU with radiator in same position, A/C, transmission, PS and for me a winch cooler all jammed in there.

Yeh I have been in contact with Richard. I currently run his top mount. I was thinking an I/C that size would mean loosing the factory thermo fan which if can be avoided would be great?

Take some measurements without the grill and check out what core sizes are available. You can usually find something to suit for cheap on fleabay. cut out behind the grill if needed for clearance. I'm sure there's a whole heap of expensive options available, but this has worked for me time and time again. I would really like to see an intake temperature analysis between all the different options. As an example of cost, on an rx4 coupe, the intercooler setup including piping was just under $400 a few years ago and I'm sure it could be done for less now.

I took some quick measurements last night. Looks like should be able to fit somewhere in the 600 x 350 x 75 core, which will suit my setup.

A/C thermo fan will definitely need to go, as will the bonnet latch support. Looks like power steering cooler can maybe just be pushed forward a little for clearance.

Just wondering how much of a difference losing the A/C thermo will mean at idle/slow speed. I'm imagining marginal, maybe 3 or 4 degrees higher supply air temp until get car moving again?

Might end up seeing how it goes without it in the end. Might be able to use a thin SPAL thermo in front as replacement. Will have to see when cooler goes in.
