Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I have one of these behemoths in at the moment, was supposed to be a drop-in and drive but it needed rebuilding - got it all apart and cleaned up and its on its way back together but I need an oil filter mount for it - any idea where I might be able to track down such a readily available item?

so you mean they are remote mount?

the filter mounts to a (probably) aluminium casting which bolts to the rear RHS of the block. the engine came without the casting so there is a triangular pad on the block which is naked until I can find the casting that bolts to it. I could make one but it would be a lot easier to buy one. so if 'remote mount' means 'hoses to/from the oil filter', no.

Engine Number 5H940028

I was told it was from a '63 Buick Riviera but I think the engine is actually a '61 from the engine number info I have in the '63 manual - the second character in the engine number is the year of manufacture, and a 'J' is for the '63 model year, so it probably follows that 'H' is '61, but then the Production Code forst letter should match, same letter for same year, but this one is a 'L', don't know. the 'T' is for four-barrel carby (correct) high-performance/standard engine (as opposed to 2 barrel or low compression engines)

nothing in the doco about 'w' or any other 'type'. when I ring chev places and say " '63 401" they seem to know what I'm talking about. except where I might find an oil filter base.

it would probably be not too hard to set up a remote filter setup, manufacture 2 flanges and a handful of fittings from enzed... but I'd prefer to keep it stock as a rock.

'merican hot-rodders seem to refer to it as a 'Nailhead' ?

seems to be plenty of them over there :-/

the W motor has sort of W shaped rocker covers, instead of plain rectangle ones.
