Check the oil.

Mine gets all tappety when the oils low. And if powersteering fluid is low it'll make weird noises when turning.

Lifters are dry, mine does this when I haven't started it in a month or 2, should go away after a few mins of running.

If the power steering res is full then I would say you'll be up for a replacement pump.

As is where is means exactly that. No warranty, no delivery, come and drive/tow it home and never speak to me again.

As others have said, lifter noise should dissapear after a matter of seconds though, if not then it could be a collapsed lifter, which means head off.

As is where is.........

people don't park a car for 18 months before selling it unless it has some issue they can't afford to fix.

Cheers

Maybe. One case where people sometimes do this is when they get a car supplied by work and don't bother selling their old one for a while.

But yeah it is a bit iffy.

Falcon motors are dirt cheap. Probably one of the cheapest replacement engines available through either wreckers or ebay. If the rest of the car is in good condition i'd go for it. I purchased a 2008 FG falcon egas engine with 38,000 kms for $415 including, ac compressor, wiring and exhaust.

So if the engine does need work, just get another one.

Some blokes pay that or more for a service.

Why is it a "head off" job! You don't even need to undo the timing chain on a falcon to change them ??? :?:
