Here in SA the maximum overhang measured from the center of the rear axle on a vehicle is 60% of the wheelbase or 3.7m whichever is the lesser. I would imagine this is fairly standard across the country.

As best i can find your wheelbase is 2850mm so the longest your tray can be is 1710mm from the center of the rear axle to the back of the tray.

I'm not saying you're wrong at all muckute, but that seems hell big..... note to Cam.... don't load heavy to the rear, you'll have a wheelstander..

thanks for the replys

just talked to a fella who makes trays and trailers for a living and he said the same about the 60%...SO tyhat makes my tray legal!!! JUST

its a pain in the ass to put a trailer on and off coz ya need to duck under the tray to do ya connections :( and if ya dont have a hockey wheel and got a load in the trailer there is NO chance of lifting on or off.

but i can fit jut about anything on there including a cubby house that i picked up for my boys that had almost asmuch over hang as on my that ...So hence to say the hilux was abit floaty in the front end

some old magna front coils jamed between the bump stops helps with carrying Heavy loads :)
