Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hey guys
I have a 1990 resin top rocky wagon and need some new tyres for it. Anyone got any recommendtions. It will go off-road quite a bit when i get them as the ones on there now are down to the wear bars and dont go well through sand/mud etc.

For a good all round tyre for a Rocky, go for the 235-75R15 BF Goodrich All Terrain. A little more expensive than some, but I reckon the wear rate on them is very good, and more than compensates for the extra cost. They should fit straight onto standard rims as well, if that is what you are running.

yeah BundyRumandCoke, they are the standard rims. they have some 235-75R15 tyres on there now but the tyre plaquard says 255-70/15.
i was going to get the BF Goodrich A/T in the bigger size. The way i see it is the bigger the better.

I have bf goodrich allterrains on my '90 rocky (30x9.5x15's) and they have been nothing but trouble. They have worn really badly, I went up to landcruiser park and in one outing they were chewed up and I won't even mention how they are in the wet.
I had the same problems on my jackaroo with them!!
It's probably my luck to get dud sets but I know I won't go back to them.
Had wrangler muddies on my patrol and after the bf's on the jackaroo, put hankook A/T"s on have taken them on worse tracks and barely chewed out and both sets were brilliant on the wet

i used to run 31x10.5 r15 bfg muddies on my 85 f75. needed a body lift, but that was also due to custom spring packs and lots of flex. Good tyre, still use em as everyday tyres on my zook, save my MTRs for the rocks

Bullwinkle, LCMP can be a bit harsh on tyres, and after all, they are an A/T, not an M/T, so wet weather performance may not be up to scratch. Laser asked about an all round tyre. Obviously, different people have different experiences and opinions of tyres. Each to his own.

Laser, I would be wary of fitting anything bigger than a 9R or 235/75. I have a set of 10R Simex Centipedes for off road work. I find these make the motor (TDI Diesel) work too hard to keep the highway speed up. Gearing also suffers badly with 5th almost unusable, with fuel consumption going up fairly badly. I found the same thing a few years ago ith a set of 10R BFG A/T's. If you can, try and get a loan of a set of 10R tyres and rims for a week or so, to assess the changes to your Rocky. New tyres are a big investment, which I dont think you would like to stuff up.

be very careful with this saying.

my rocky went from 28's to 31's and the ride turned to sh*t.
it rocked an rolled and almost caused a serious accident.

do u have any mods done to the truck?

I never had much trouble with my rocky on 31's, but mine was no where near standard too, with standard tyres on my car was heaps nicer though on the road. My fuel wasnt much different, and still pulled fine with 31's, even aired down between off-road sections.
