Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Just got back from a week long 2500 km trip aroung the bottom of WA and have come to the conclusion that the front seats of NK pajeros suck balls. Looking at changing the seats over to something more comfortable. Thinking at this stage late model dunnydore or falcoon due to the number that are available from wrecking wards etc. Anyone done this kind of swap before? Any advice besides needing to get it engineered?

Two thoughts:

What spec level is your NK? I think the seats in my NJ GLS are pretty good - I don't normally have trouble with 800km plus days, so if yours is a lower spec model, GLS seats may be a simple (no engineering) solution.

If you have a GLS, and the seats have simply died, have you considered having them rebuilt by an auto-upholsterer? I've been told, but have no first hand experience, that they can be re-bolstered to suit your preferences, and you should be able to add stuff like adjustable under-thigh support - if that floats your boat.

I have 2 front seats from an NL Escape model. The seat back frames (not the ratchets) failed when we were thumped up the back by a dunnydore. I got new Recaro seats to replace them. You can have them for free if you are interested. Upholstery and padding are 100%. You would need to strip them to straighten and reinforce the seat frame.

Mine is the gls and the seats are fine around town but looking at setting it up for touring, figured for the cost of reapolstering (have a mate that gave me a price through his work) I could get something better. Not to concerned about the engineering side of things as a few other changes planned will require it anyway. Thanks for the offer but the postage would be more than its worth. Found a wrecking yard that has VE commodore seats for $200 a pair. So that got me thinking about them.

that would prollie be omega spec seats, base model commodore seats aren't that comfy
