Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hi All,

It's my first time in the Rover section. You guys are a little left of centre

Anyhow, to my question for the rover gurus.

A friend has a Disco 2 V8 on gas. I'm led to believe these have a tendency to back fire & blow the air box to bits. This has now happened.

A replacement air box is drug money even a s/h unit, and more than likely will get blown to bits again.

Is there a different air box/cleaner that can be fitted?

I have heard a RRC cylindrical air cleaner can be modded into a disco 1 using commowhore elbows & pipe. Is this applicable to a Disco 2?

He is contemplating fitting a snorkel if that makes any difference.

I am open to all ideas & advise.

It's not intended with malice.
It's just, you like English built vehicles that could never rust due to oil leaks, have Prince of Darkness electrics & are just generally unreliable & costly to repair.
