Hill descent control.

They may 'suck' to some people but for a normal 4wheeler they do work reasonably well from my experience.

Ive used the button on a few new Rovers (inc Freelander) and retardation is adequate most times.

Hope he is happy with the new Disco

The Hill decent control is a bit quick and it sometimes takes off at the start for a sphincter enlightening experience.

The traction control is really under rated for most work. I've found that as long as you have 4 wheels on the deck then its a fraction better than a rear locker usually, heaps better in loose stuff, and if you lift a wheel the rear locker is better. The lockers are also better for slow rock work. The ETC really is a good bit of kit though and I've embarrised a few locked vehicles before with it.

This said, my Disco has ETC and twin lockers.

I know the development phase is pretty much finished and as far as I know I would expect to see it this financial year.

That is my understanding - but hey when the haultech boys are that busy
things could get delayed. But it is worth the wait - believe me

Have a look in the 4wd monthly modified rigs special, with sam's mog in it. In the newsagent now, that article has a little "how it works" inlay
which says it uses air actuated braking and a onboard solid state computer to work out what to do - the article has a better description

Sam has described how it works before in detail, either on here or the rover section of pirate4x4.com - when he was describing the buildups of his rigs. Do a search under his username and either mogrover or lockless on both forums.
