1HZ turbo fuel economy?

Wondering what sort of fuel figures other people are getting out of a turboed 1hz.

I'm running a DTS kit with boost compensator on a 105 series manual, standard rubber, no exhaust upgrade, no intercooler.
Around town runs around 16l/100km but I towed an enclosed trailer last week (1200kg-1400kg + wind resistance) and ended up with 25l/100km reasonably happy with power tho still slowed a little on big hills. Also engine temps were a little warm on a the way back which was a warm day.
Used to run an 80 series with a DTS kit and would run 13l/100km round town and towing my dual cab hilux on car trailer long distances get around 17l/100kms.

Never been completely happy with the 100 fuel figures but I have only been doing about 10-12 thousand kms a year so it hasn't really worried me too much. It was fitted and tuned proffessionally.

Is this typical or do I have a problem.

Doesn't anybody know what fuel figures they get?

Most of my customers get around 16-17l/100 once turbo'd regardless of which type of kit they have fitted.

When you say no exhaust upgrade? Is it the DTS engine pipe into a standard exhaust system?

Yes it is the DTS engine pipe into the standard exhaust.
Just surprised how much more fuel it uses over the old 80. Same engine and turbo. If I wound the fuel up that much on the 80 you wouldn't see it for black smoke.
Wondering where I am best spending money for improvement? Exhaust? Injectors? Fuel pump?

Exhaust upgrade and intercooler.
I wouldn't turbo a 105series 1HZ without these two. its not identical to a 80series 1HZ.
Also an EGT gauge is ESSENTIAL IMO, plus a tune by someone who understands the engines limits.

I get 14-16 on the highway running 35's 4.3 diff gears running 10psi in the 80 I do have a 3'' vortex exhaust not sure the vortex muffler dose anything, sounds good but. egt temps nice are low never sees 500. The biggest thing was timing it properly using the dial indicator made the most difference :x-mas: .
Cheers Mick

It was tuned by West End when they fitted it.
How do you check the timing, what settings should it be, so I can check it before making the next move.
What are the differences between the 1HZ's. Mechanical or electronic attachments for engine management?

I average 15l/100 in a 105 cruiser with a dts turbo and intercooler

the average is over the last 80.000km which includes long touring ie Perth to Cape York rtn and a trip up to and along the Gibb
I do a fair bit of towing when home as well

Mmmm.... worst I ever got offroad was 150km to a 70 litre tank, and I'm killing it if I get 400km out of the main tank...

That is thirsty. The 150km was that through sand dunes or hard going low range?
I push out to 500km on the main. The other day towing it was a stretch to 300km

What other mods have you done with the turbo?
