you want to pay 1500 for a cut on a cab?

Is this for a shitter comp truck or a daily? Do you have any idea how much work goes into one of these?

Now i don't believe in paying the price that creative conversions charges, but the best job i have seen by far at the best price was Dale at 2DExtreme when he was doing them. 2500 to bog and prime only. Any less than that and i promise you it's going to be a bodge job with no care or attention to detail.

There's trying to get a good price and there's just being a tight bastard.

To give you an idea i would say for someone who does these all day every day it should take a bare minimum of 3 days work (24 hours) to complete the job. That's measureing, cutting off, preparing new sheet metal, cutting to shape, bracing, brazing/welding new metal in, grinding/sanding, bog work.

so at a very cheap rate of 55 bucks an hour that's about 1300 in labour only. There's still steel, consumables, insurance and shop costs above that.

Mate i can tell you that even as a hobbyist who does shit for other people just because i love it (quite often for nix) that if i was charging for a job that labour is the barest minimum hourly rate i'd charge.

I'd say that 2500 is the LEAST i'd expect to pay SOMEONE ELSE to do the job and expect a reasonable job. And if someone IS doing it for 1500 and putting all that time and effort into it they're doing themselves a serious disservice and will burn out of the game in short order.

How can you promise it will be a shit job?
Are you angry because you paid or it took you so long to cut your troopy?JOKING!
Have you looked at snail pace racings work? they say they can do it in a weekend with 2 blokes, which is completely doable and the cuts on their page seem decent. That price doesnt include paint or interior done.

I'm not bothered by the troopy comment, if anything after dealing with three people in that debacle i'm probably more qualified than any to comment on how to cut down a truck as a customer. And i'm not angry at how much it cost, i'm angry that it cost more than it should because of the shoddy work and bullshit behaviour of someone who's supposedly a tradesman. Threats of physical violence, and of making false accusations the authorities, is what pissed me off, not the money.

Creative charged a fortune, yes it was a top notch job but not necessarily worth the amount paid for it.

first dude charged 2500, but........well best left alone.

Dale - as i said, when he was doing them he was charging 2500 to bog stage. and from what i saw when i was there getting other work done he was doing it CHEAP for the effort put into it.

Now you'll note the bit i wrote at the bottom. I don't PROMISE that it will be a shit job. But if the guys at snails pace are doing it for that then like i said, they are doing themselves AND the industry a disservice. Anybody who know's me will say that A. i'm a tight arse jewish mofo who won't spend a cent if i don't have to and B. I'm a can do fella who's happy to do stuff myself if i can instead of paying someone.

But let's be realistic here, what you can do yourself is ALWAYS going to be cheaper than paying someone, and if you want it done for you then pay for it and don't expect it done at the rates it would cost if two or three of ya mates did it in the shed at home. You of all people should know that guys doing it for a living, hell, even as a second income, aren't a charity and it should be charged at a fair rate.

Now if these guys undercut everyone else at rates that are comparable to a home job, everyone gets farked over. Eventually when they get the shits with working for next to nothing the whole industry will be expected to do cab cuts at this rate.

At the end of the day - Pay cheap, get cheap. It's the reason why everything is now made in farking china and yet we still whinge that it's rubbish when we won't pay what something is actually worth

If you are after a quality job talk to Nathan or 'fatty' at Fatz fabrication, rockhampton cq. Little bit of a drive for you but guarantee you will be happy with the work weather it be daily or comp truck pretty sure all come with a blue plate and they definitely all come with excellent workmanship. http://fatzfab.cqoz.com/index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. would recommend his work to anyone and charges reasonably as well

I"m not getting worked up mate, i just don't want to see a guy gutted because he either A. had unrealistic expectations about what a job should cost or B. Didn't get what he thought he would get and ends up paying more than he really needed to.

I'm not trying to be a smart arse or talk down to you, it's personal experience that i'd rather see other people not have to go through.

But hey, take it as you will.........
