35's on an MK SWB

Hello all,

Currently running 33/12.5/15 on 15x8 on my SWB 85 Patrol SD33T

Bought the car with these tyres on it. Have been 4x4ing heaps and these
tyres have not rubbed at all. I assume that the car has been raised a couple of inches to clear this rubber and also to compensate for the weight of the bar, roof rack, long range tank etc.

I am now wanting to get a set of 35in MTR's to go out an play with.

What else will I have to do to get these on. Patrol has the orginal metal wide wheel flares on it as well. Will I have to raise the body and lose the flares or will tyres clear with the flares only removed. Or can I raise the body and keep the flares or would rubber flairs be better.

What have others done in the past cause I don't want to buy the tryes to find that I have to spend another grand to make them fit.

cheers

James

just do a body lift, they are cheap as.

MKpatrolguy runs 35"s on his im sure he woud know how much lift is required.

you could always borrow a set of some one and flex it up and see where it rubs. And to save damage to tyres in doing this just drive up ramp with a mate checking clearance.
Only problem with this is that off-road the car will flex more than it will on a ramp.

The forklift method works well for this, 'cause you can pick up whatever corner you need to and get the other corner to full stuff. The only thing is that in the real world the axle will move a little bit under torque as well....

James,
As Blair said I'm running 35s on my LWB MK, I have a 2" body lift and around 2-3" suspension lift (not sure on the exact height, was fitted when I bought the Patrol and it has settled a bit and I have mucked with the number of leaves a bit). In the front the tyres clear everything fine, but in the rear you will find under compression the tyres will rub on the guard on the front and the back of the opening. Nothing some minor (or major if you feel like it :D ) trimming wont fix, I just cut my mashed rear quarters off completely to fix half the problem :D . Oh and I have the generic rubber flares, dunno how much difference that makes though.

Hope that helps,
