advise need from TD 42 eggsperts :)

Post by JWB »

Hello All,
my TD42 just stopped on me today whilst driving along peacefully??
It gave no indication of any problems at all be fore this issue?

It as as if someone turned off the ignition.
Plenty of fuel at the pump and fillter.
Cranks aways as normal.
It will start/run roungh with areo start.
I'm thinking it must be electrically related to the fule solenoid?
But as yet have not been able to someone suited to have a squizz?

Any suggestions on what/where to start searching 1st??
The RACQ guy put some power directly to ths fuel cut off & it made no difference.

Thank in advance for any / all comments
Also everyone have a safe & merry xmas.
Be carefull out on the roads as there some major idiots out there!

Cheers

Solenoid has probably shat itself John.

Supplying power to it will bypass the vehicle's normal power supply indicating that it is probably the solenoid itself.

Have you cracked an injector line to see if fuel is getting to the injectors?

Remove the fuel cut solenoid , take the plunger and spring out of the solenoid then reinstall
if the engine will then run it is a solenoid problem , obviously you wont be able to shut it off with the key but this is a good check as it elimnates electrical and mechanical
if it dosn't run well then you have more problems , eg fuel supply or even injection pump failure
more chance of it being soleniod failure as it is very unuseuale for a fuel injection pump to fail as if you were to just turn the key off

hope this helps
