Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hi All,

Have recently purchased a RA rodeo - 2x4 LT 3.5l Petrol. I have no need for the 4wd model so couldnt justify the larger price tag.

The only issue I have with the rodeo is that the suspension is tight regardless of the terrain. Im looking for a solution that wont effect the load carrying ability or the towing ability of my rodeo and will make general driving more comfortable.

Any suggestions would be great.

You are welcome here as far as I am concerned Barbz.

Unfortunately the firmness of ride tends to go hand in hand generally with a utility vehicle that is intended to carry load. The only thing that I can really think of trying is the Rancho RS9000 adjustable shocks. Could probably be set to a softer setting when not carrying loads to give a more comfortable ride.

Maybe lighten the rear leaf packs up and fit polyairs to help with load carrying. Or carry 3 bags of concrete and a big dog everywhere!!!!

The only reason I settled on the 2wd in the first place was because I dont have much free time that could be spent 4wd'ing. I just couldnt justify the extra money. Its main uses are for towing trailers on the weekend and carrying a 8m rowing boat on top (The rodeos length makes it legal to carry it on the roof).

Any ideas where I could find a dealer in brisbane with the Rancho's? or polyairs?

Tried carrying cement bags - didnt make any noticable difference.

So would it just be upgrading the shockies? Or leaf springs aswell?

EDIT: Just wanted to add that I talked to a person at Bayside Springs, they said they can add a leaf to the leaf springs (on top) which is reasonably soft, then move the bottom leaf further down so it only gets used when carrying weight. Does this sound right??

it sounds pretty well right to me but i haven't had anything to do with them as such...

you should be able to pick up the rancho's at ARB at archerfield they seem to have pretty well anything over there. it either that or just try a suspension shop like fulcrum. it just a matter of talking to who ever you can find....

that baby looks pretty new, have you had a chat to holden... they might be able to do something??

Talked to holden, they said this is a common problem that RA owners complain about.

Ended up going to Pedders and got the leaf pack reset. It made a huge difference, the right is alot smoother with and without load.

Heres a pic of what they did.



Still think upgrading the shocks (OME or ToughDog) in the near future would help out as the IFS is still rough as guts.

Try munroe gas shocks, they are a good cheap (compared to rancho's etc) they made a hep of difference to mine
