Hilux cab swap 85 - 96

Hey everyone, I have a 85 duel cab lux with extensive mods (injected 304, turbo 700 marks kit, 60 series diffs, coil rear conversion, 35's etc..) all engineered. The body is getting rusty and passed its used by date, so I'm going to change the cab with 96 xtra cab 4x4 I also have with rooted running gear. So far the only difference I can see in cab mounts are the rear mounts needing to be relocated about 40mm forward but the other 4 mounts line up well. So apart from obvious wiring, steering and brakes to sort out, does anyone know of any major issues I may run into doing this swap? And legality wise, I was going to swap build tags from the dual cab onto the extra cab, after all... All numbers are on chassis and engine not on cab. A body swap surely wont need more engineering??
Thanks, Mark.

I think youll still need to show an engineer the Lux after the body swap is done.

Have a look in the members section for the build up of "Justinishere", he started off with a single cab, but has recently stuck an xcab on his single cab chassis.

He would have some idea on whats involved.
He did see an engineer after it was done too, but he also had to have the modified body mounts certified, as well as some other things.

You have a compliance plate so you should be fine. I wouldn't see anyone about it. no one checks the chassis for the number.

If it was a straight body swap(dual cab to dual cab), then Id say dont worry about showing an engineer.
But because he wants to go from dual cab to later model extra cab, he needs to relocate/modify/fab some mounts for the body to sit on the chassis. This will need to be seen by an engineer.

If the V8 stuff is plated, then surly, all youd need to do is take in your current papers, and have them corrected to suit the new mods.

hi i swapped a 84 4runner cab to a 94 4runner cab i left the tags on the 94 cab cause by law you cant remove tags regardless and all i had to do is go to a blue slip guy and get a change of records done all you need is a reciept for the new cab and the adjust the numbers on the rego papers acordingly they dont even inspect the vehicle
