Hi, first time poster here on the "Dark side" Jeep column, but long time outer limits member :)

Ive recently moved to Dubai and was initially intrested in buying a G class merc, but found the price range that i am in rather crap, lots and lots of 2nd hand G's done up to look like 2011, but utterly crap both inside and outside.

anyways, after 2 weeks of trudinging the 2nd hand car lots (and online) looking for a car, we were driving past the Jeep showroom in Festival city and decided on a whim to drop in and have a look. Suprise suprise, spanking new 4 door wrangler in my price range. 150-200k (dhrs) :) anyways, they only import the Sahara model here and so no option to buy a Rubicon (which i would have liked after reading up on some of the specs, factory diff locks esp) anyways, that was not an option..

soo, anyways, the bloke there offers me a test drive in a 2 door wrangler and i am like looking at him going.. "Mate, i need 4 doors, i got a baby seat that needs easy access.." lol.. anyways, no 4 doors in the country for sale atm (which i though was a bit strange), anyways, so the guy twists my arm and gets me to test drive the 2 door... sahara model, pretty bog standard..

and i must admit... I was not really impressed... esp with the handling... told old mate so too.. anyways, so i am sitting there testing out the little jeep on the road a bit, emergency stops etc.. brakes work fine, but just woe-full handeling.. soo much body roll... (and thats me coming from a 85 patrol :)

drive back to the show room, and pretty much decided to give up on the whole buying a car thing....

then i park, and as i am walking out of the showroom old mate runs up to me saying they have a "Special" done up model 4 door, thats just been completed and its supposed to be a demonstarator for jeep at special events... hmm.. okay... lets have a look see then..

anyways, takes me down to the garage where this spanking (55kms) black four door wrangler on Mickey Tompson muds is sitting with around 3 inch lift kit in it and a whole lot of other "stuff" on it.. It looked awesome.. (found out later, its the top of the line Sahara done up to one of those black ops specs without the diff locks and crawler gears, but also slightly different, ie has standard snorkel and they are not the black ops wheels, but rather the same standard wheels shot with 32 inch mickey thompsons)..

took it for a spin, and boy.. sooo impressed.. it handeled just awesome!!!

long story short, bought it : )

so i just would like to know if there are any known issues with these Sahara wranglers??
love the trim inside also, very sleek leather everywhere. :)

any info or tips would be greatly appreciated. I also love working on cars myself, so what sort of things can i do myself, sides changing oil >;)

cheerio :)

having never bought a new car nor a Jeep before, can anyone tell me what is supposed to come with delivery? ive got the hardtop, ive heard mentioned that a softtop is also supposed to come with it, though the dealer made no mention of it.
is there anything besides a jack? how many keys? floor matts? etc..

cheers and thanks :)

Yeah, you should have received both soft and hard tops, 3 keys, 1 of which is a service key. and mats. that's about it though.

specs of the arab models will likely be different to the US or Aussie models so can't really compare trim models and what you're meant to get with them.

Although JK wranglers here do not come with a service key minus the transponder - just 2 original keys with the transponder in them.

if it is meant to have a soft top they are usually assembled with them from the factory, soft top is installed in the back and the hardtop is placed over the top. So apart from the soft top itself there should also be some boxes with the door frame surrounds and with the rear and side windows. If the soft top has been removed there will probably be little brackets on the rear sections of the roll bars for the frame to attach to and pivot on (most people leave these attached when they remove the soft top).
