Outer Limits 4x4 Board

hi everyone, just after any thoughts/experience's with the mtr's

how they handle on road as well as off road?

what sort of milage would i expect to get out of a set?

they will be on a gu coil cab

In my opinion the best all round rubber on the market in a M/T. Sidewall strength is good, and so is wear on road. They can be a bit slippery in the wet & there has been talk that they delaminate at hi speeds, however I have never come across the latter. They do wear quickly offroad if driven hard... but you expect that with all rubber.

Depending on how you drive/truck is set up/ratio between on&off road driving/etc. it is highly likely that you could get 50K and still be above treadwear indicators.

They are not a mud terrain tyre as most people 'assume' that 'MT' means.

In my opinion they're an all terrain tyre which are VERY good on ROCKS.

In mud, they're not too bad from what i saw on a mates 4x4, spun a lot tryin to get traction. But they'd be the best all terrain tyre ive seen so far..

Cooper AT`s are AT`s
Cooper ST`s are an agressive AT

MT/R`s are a mud terrian (yes i know MT/R stands for Maxium Traction / Reinforced)

Love mine to bits aired down on the rocks, but in the mud they dont seem to clean as good as my old BFG muddies, but still good in the end. Not too bad on the road on my zook, but do seem to wear bit quicker than my other tyres. Still happy with then overall.

Love mine to death, good mileage and traction on road and fantastic off. Because of rep. for good sidewall strength, you can air down with confidence.

You're probalby right fellas..

just the way i look at them. less wear than the chunkier bfg's and they handle highway cruising alright compared to chunkier muddies.

thought it was Multi Terrain / Reinforced

i agree they are closer to a muddy than an AT.

great tyre. i recon they are better than BFGs in every way.

I've got them at the moment - the 285s are narrower across the shoulders than the 31x10.5 S/Ts they replaced.

They seem to dig more than the S/Ts did, but that's just a first impression. Should know more tomorrow!

They seem to hang on OK on bitumen (not that I push it too hard) and noise isn't significantly worse than the S/Ts.

Got mine out in the snow and ice today, couldnt have been happier.

I've been running 235/85 on the 80 for nearly a year, 20K and still look like new. Clear the red Canberra clay better than the BFG muddies did, excellent on rock down to 16 psi. Some slight chunking on the blocks after high speed gravel runs. Noise? Lessd than the BFGs - other sh!t covers that anyway

what are they like on the black top? in the wet?

Excellent.. They are noisey when they wear, but are great in wet/snowy conditions on tar, and also dirt roads they are good.. Lots of confidence in the wet too..

Dry weather no issues. Just keep eye on the pressures.

what pressures whould i run on road?

I have MT/R 35's and they seem to be a good all round tyre.

They have about 20K on them now and seem to be wearing well. Fingers crossed and I should have at least another 20k in them. Noise is increasing as they wear though.

I run about 32psi on road and down to 10psi off road. At 10 psi the sidewall loosens and bags fairly well. Haven't beaded one to date and no sidewall damage either

they go alright in the sand actually ... was down in black river in townsville and went for a run up the river to test them out ... and did a snatch and everything in the sand air'd down ... they work well

pulled 4th gear in the nissan with 35's on the sand

took ours to Robe... No problems what so ever, didnt get bogged once.. few photos of them on my page.

i've had MT/Rs for a while now on my zook. i think they've done a bit over 60,000 ks.

when they are brand spanking new, like with nipples and all, they'll slipp and slide all over the place, reason i think, is that the top layer of rubber is, i think, a thin film of rubber, thats supposed to protect tyres in transit, or something, like tyres need protecting. anyway, this wears off pretty quick, and after that, you're home free with a set of sweet a$$ tyres.

best tyre for price up here anyway, and better than BFG's. thats what i think.

good tyre, and for what its worth, i dont think you'll be disappointed. just dont forget about the tyre pressures, and also to rotate them.
