Did it previously work or did you just buy it. My guess is no diff center, wouldn't be the first time. Does the front tail shaft spin.

Yea just brought it with blown head gasket ( try totalled motor) and I didn't try 4x4 as motor was on its way out so I'll now check for a centre all drive shafts lock in but still no drive

Auto hubs you mean the IFS ADD system?
Start by jacking the car up in 2wd. Lock the hubs and rotate drivers wheel, front CV should turn as should front drive shaft. Leave in 2wd and rotate passenger wheel, front CV should rotate, front driveshaft should not. If either CV does not rotate when the hubs are locked in your problem is in your hub. Push 4wd button and try and rotate passenger wheel, if it rotates your not getting vacuum to the ADD/the collar isn't engaging. This is all assuming you're getting drive from the transfer as you say.
I'd be surprised if someone pulled the center and replaced it with an empty third.
If you're near the city pm me to bring it over for a look if you get stuck.

After doing all that it was a leaking vac line now that's all sorted I took it for a test run and now I have a massive problem no reds,cd player, windscreen wipers, blinkers, air con or starter motor but if I clutch start it the car runs
