tb42e airbox

hi guys just in the process of doing a head reco on my 94 gq efi 4.2 it had burnt no3 exh valve (prob due too the rocker riding it from lack of maintenence from the prev owners its only got 240 or so on the clock) my q's is i need a new airbox for it mainly the base but am wondering if i can geta cheaper and/or better airbox too bolt straight in or with a little modifing ,which would be better for my planned gas install have seen people use the zd30 box on the diesels but are you able too use them for the efi engines too??? any help on this would be much appreciated cheers john :)

Hey mate I know you can use like a vs commodore air box with some small modifications I found myne though the easiest thing that works fine is I used some PVC pipe that was the same diameter as the pod filter. I stuck the pod filter inside and glues one end of the PVC pipe. Then just had adapters on the outside the stick the air intake pipes onto. I'll try find some photos as probably a little confusing

cheers mate that would be good ,i have thought about trying to get a vr/s type of airbox and doing a few mods too use on the patrol too be able to put a snorkle on

I have used an EL/EF air box with minimal mods to get it to fit. These airboxes have a higher flow rate than the commodore one. Get yourself a K&N filter and you'll have better flow than the original. Also with it mounted behind the charcol canister/where the original box was you can route flexi-pipe to run into a MQ snorkle which goes in half way down the guard. I'm sure I have done a write up about it???!!!
