hi guys,
stupid question, but im new in the landrover world, previous owned GQ and GU patrol. My wife wanted something a bit smaller.Anyways my question is.....
I have a 97 Discovery, petrol, auto....now i just bought some 285/75/R16 muddies and they scrub, i already knew they would, but decided to get them anyway, as it would force me to get a lift kit.
Now i have a couple of lift kits from my GQ and GU left lying around, and was wondering if they would fit? Im sure the rear shouldnt be a problem but the frony has the shock inside the spring, and spring looks REALLY short/small. HAs anyone put a lift kit from another car into the discovery before.....am i being stupid for even thinking about it.....any help/advice would be sweet. I have my own shed with hoist etc...so am planning to do the work myself....thanks

To get those tyres in and usable off road (ie not being cut up while flexing) then you will also need to cut the guards as well as the lift. I have 265/75's on 0mm offset rims on my 97 disco with cut guards and I still get a bit of rubbing, although mainly on the mud guard bracket so would be easy to bash in with a hammer, avoided 285/75's due to concerns about gearing and rubbing.

As far as springs from other makes I dont recall reading about patrol springs being used but do recall reading about 80 series front cruiser springs in the back, could be wrong though. If you end up getting new springs and dampers I can vouch for suspension stuff. I have their 2" flexy coils in the rear and std 2" coils in the front and have been very impressed. Looking at their website it appears they do a flexy front spring now too.

have heard the patrol ones will fit with flipped spring mounts, i know that the top of the spring is the same diameter as the rover
