Hi guys,
Just a quick question for those with the current model hiluxes. I am looking to sell my patrol and move across to a hilux, but my Patrol and camper all run 285/75R16 tyres on 16x8" rims. The hilux I'm looking at has a 2" lift but will it accept this size tyre? I know the tyres are bloody heavy will they drain too much power from the lux. The lux is a D4D 3.0 diesel with auto trans.

Many thanks
Matt

a mate of mine has a 2010 sr5 with a 2 inch lift,we put my mates old 33x12.5 mickey t's on it and they scrubbed pretty bad so he took them off.He was told he needed a 4 inch snake kit to run them or chop the guards, but i'm only going off what he told me

Being 285 I would say they will go very close to fitting. A good mate had 275s on his and he only had a 50mm lift in the front.

If you have the patrol 16x8 +10 offset wheels these are ideal for running a 285/75x16 on these trucks.

You'll have to remove the front mudflaps and depending on what suspension you have if you do manage to get full bump travel your tyres will just touch the top of the guards on compression. Fitting a spacer under the bumpstop can minimise this or fitting progressive bumpstops.

Wheel alignment is everything on these trucks. Try and aim for as much castor as possible with factory specs.

If you use aftermarket upper arms you can get alot more castor whilst keeping everything else in spec which helps with tyre clearance from that dreaded bodymount.

Im running 305/70x16 MTR's with a 3" lift.

some trimming, needed/
